InfoSec

I started my journey in InfoSec. I am currently studying for the CISSP and GISP. My goal overarching object is to help local agencies who do not have the same funding resources as the bigger states and federal agencies secure their environments.

OSINT

To my surprise in 2020, I found out a hobby of mine not only had a formal name, but also a vast established community surrounding it. My interest in Open Source Intelligence started off during the ISIS insurgency in Syria and Iraq back in college. I wanted to know more about what is happening on the group and discovered how much information is out there out in the open on social media as well as on other parts of the internet. Since then I have continued honing in my information gathering skills and use this skill set to help me in my professional career make adjustments to my business strategies and operational strategies

K12 technology and information management.

I worked in the K12 sector for quiet awhile now (almost eight years now) and have experience in almost every vertical in K12 education business. I primarily specialize in directing IT, but I have background in K12 fiscal services, State reporting, Federal reporting, special education data administration, state testing administration, and the list goes on. One of the biggest challenges that I always face is the lack of funding that other bigger districts or other agencies have, but it has forced me to work with what I got and come up with creative solutions that utilizes edge technologies and techniques without creating a massive overhead for my employer. By being more intentional with my budget, we can spend more for student supports and other services because at the end of the day that is what I am here for, the students

FOR THE CULTURE

In my spare time, I have been doing my part in reconnecting and relearning my Filipino culture. I originally focused in on precolonial culture since so much of our indigenous knowledge has been erased by multiple oppressive regimes that controlled the Philippine islands before our independence from the United States of America. I still focus on expanding my knowledge in space, but use the current Filipino / Filipino - American lens to ask the question: “What value can we take from our ancient identity?”

During my journey in reconnecting with my ancestors, I was brought to so many different parts of the pacific. Connecting with my fellow islanders and found myself immersed in their culture. Each island in the pacific is precious to me, and I made a promise that I will do my upmost to prevent our islands, our culture, and our pacific environment being further destructed by external actors vying for control of the pacific who continually use old “economic hitman” -sque techniques for control rather than supporting the sovereignty of our islands.
